Last year saw a 66% increase in the rate of identity theft in the UK compared to the year before. According to Experian more than 6000 victims sought their help in 2007, compared to around 3500 in 2006.
People living in London are twice as likely to be a victim of identity theft as those living in the rest of the UK, and those living in Kensington are three and a half times more likely.
It’s not just the area you live in that may put you at greater risk, those earning more than £50,000 are three times more likely to be a victim than the national average.
