Default Life is now boring without marijuana

I'm 20 years old and have been smoking almost everyday for about a year now. At first I really didn't see a problem with it. Come on, I'm in college, everybody smokes weed and drinks alcohol right? When I started smoking, it was only a nightly hobby that I would partake in with my roommates. However as time went on I found myself smoking more and more. As i continued to smoke i saw a direct correlation with that and a drop off in my academics. Because of this I decided I could no longer be a daily smoker and would have to cut being a "stoner" out of my life. I've been sober for 5 days now, however my problem is now when I'm not high i feel bored and down. Not quite depressed, but not invigorated by life which is unusual for me. Before I started smoking I really enjoyed life. I never really did much, but I was never really bored. I would say that I was in general a very happy person. Now however, if I'm not high I don't know what to do with myself; nothing seems to interest me. Everything that I used to enjoy before I started smoking no longer seems fun to me. Basically I just want to know if others are feeling the same way and if this is a usual occurrence? All I want is to go back to enjoying life without weed playing the major role in that enjoyment.
    Thank you for your time

i have the same problem. Before i was passed my first joint i was content as hell just hanging around the house playing video games and surfing the web. You know the usual modern human loner stuff. You can see why i got hooked on weed. It was perfect for my lifestyle. I wondered how i ever enjoyed those things without weed. You can climb mount everest without having to leave your couch. I think if i hadnt been using weed for 5 years i might have got bored of being a house dweller. But of course with weed doing nothing is never boring. So theres no real incentive to strap on hiking boots. I guess now we gotta actually sow seeds to reap pleasure. Instead of tricking our brain into giving it to us for free. Pleasure isnt free. Not even meditation. It takes work and commitment. But thats not exactly what youre talking about is it. Youre talking just the lack of pleasure in things like a funny show or something that used to be funny sober.
You are only 5 days in though. And like me at my point we are supposed to feel like blahhh. As we are still withdrawing. Our bodies are still wondering where its weed is lol. It acclimated to outside weed pleasure forces, in turn shutting off pleasure naturally as it was being overstimulated by weed. Basically. Errr i dunno. It sounds good.

Yes , I feel exactly like that, been smoking years though. However once I get off my butt and start doing things, I do forget very quickly and I do enjoy it, its purely a psychological thing with cannabis, not physical like alchohol, which is by far the worst drug out there no question, they say cannabis leads to other drugs, but how many people wake up in the morning sobre and think , "today I will start my drugs career" they dont, everyone, EVERYONE has a few drinks, gets some dutch courage and then they start there drugs career but only after they have drunk some booze. So really I would think about quitting booze first, plus if you have a problem with cannabis your more than likley going to use drink as a replacement which in my opinion is going to steer you towards alchoholism. Which if wont get you now, it will get you mid life when your children are going to suffer and then you'll suffer big time, so quit the booze then the weed, if you quit weed first you'll more than likley start drinking more heavily, especially if your a student. Why is weed illegal, because people would no longer need to process the drug before using it, like booze, eveyone would just grow plants and the gov would lose 100s of billions in tax, which they would make up in the first year as people wouldnt be hung over at work. I've done all the drugs, except heroine and crack and the most damaging is alchohol and its legal, if you could hear the childrens crying from booze related violence and neglect , you would have your priorities right stopping that first.

Unfortunately many people do find marijuana to have some degree of physically dependency, they are not experiencing sweating, insomnia, severe anxiety/depression, mood swings, headaches, upset stomach, unable to eat and so on and so on as a result of quitting a psychological addiction. Sorry but we have already gone way past the point of discovering that no matter what the pro weed movement and stoners would like us to believe.

Just because you as an individual or your buddies have not experienced it doesn’t prove it can’t happen to anyone. It just shows you don’t really understand the complex nature of the Endocannabinoid system and the way different people can react to this very complex drug, as well as perhaps different peoples biological predisposition for getting addicted to it. You yourself may only be psychologically addicted but that doesn’t mean there aren’t others here who are experiencing some degree of physical withdrawal as a result of quitting and if you want to use a group like this that is just something you are going to have to accept or at least keep such opinions to yourself, that is just one thing we are not here to debate.

You only have to read some of the posts here to realise marijuana can have its own set of problems, some similar and some different to other drugs and many marijuana users have been using the fact that there are worse things to justify their own use for a long time now which I am not sure that it does, sure there are things that are worse but you could say that about lots of things in life it still doesn’t turn a negative into a positive, assuming that’s the effect you feel marijuana is having on you which a person may or may not, but obviously most people here probably do or they wouldn’t be here in the first place.

Anyway my apologies for sounding blunt but I have to consider that we get both types of addicts here and it’s not fair to those who are experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms to be dismissed by those who are only experiencing a psychological addiction, I am sure you understand.

    All the best,
