Robert Mugabe stripped of knighthood

I heard today that the British government is to strip Robert Mugabe of his honouree knighthood. I for one was pleased to hear this, but there is a danger that any action the British government take, in regards to Robert Mugabe will be used by him as ammunition. To blame the British for all Zimbabwe’s problems, as part as his anti colonial propaganda.

I agree Britain’s in a difficult position when it comes to condemning Robert Mugabe’s regime. The best thing the international community can do is to encourage other African countries, particularly South Africa, to apply pressure on his dictatorship. I was glad to hear today, that Nelson Mandela has spoke out against him. Criticism from fellow Africans appears to be far more effective, than anything else.

That said I don’t think that any amount of criticism will influence Mugabe’s actions, he will just do what he did today, and tell other nations to mind their own business.

South Africa should just cut off his resources; I bet he would not last a week in power!
