Default Don't put your faith in fast food restaurants

I would just like to put a warning out that while fast food can be convenient for busy people, sometimes you still can't trust them. Taco Bell was known for a multi-state E Coli outbreak a few years back and Jack in the Box also had a case in which 4 kids died from E coli found in their burgers. IT's scary considering how many people eat at fast food places each day.

Jenny, thank you for the reminder. I didn't know about Jack in the Box - so very sorry to hear that! When things happen and it hits the headlines, it is embedded in your brain, but after a very short while, the headlines disappear, and sadly, you forget. Thanks for the reminder!

Not a problem at all! While I've never gotten E coli or food poisoning from fast food places, I've had a couple friends who have. It's one of those things you don't really think about until it happens to you, and you're right, news headlines only stay up for so long.

I know the news reports are scary but when you think about the millions that eat fast food every week I think Health Departments do an amazing job. There are so many regulations that most of the time I feel safe eating anywhere. (Tip: Never go out to eat with someone that works for or has worked for the Health Department!)

I agree with you stinker. I that it is unfair to avoid all fast food restaurants simply because they are "fast food restaurants". There is no doubt that of course unhealthy food is here, but the idea that there is ecoli in them is silly. What's to say there isn't e coli in the burger you make at home?

Yeah I agree I don't think you can tar them all with the same brush, the reality is you don't really know what's going on in the kitchen of any restaurant even the more expensive ones.

It's the takeaways that I avoid, some of them aren't too clean in the bit that you see let alone what they are like out the back.
