Reducing waste

Before we recycle we should reduce the need for waste in the first place, the other day I bought a pizza which was packaged twice, once with a cardboard box and once again with plastic. This was totally unnecessary; the plastic on its own would have sufficed. It really made me think how ludicrous it was. From now on I will try only to buy pizzas that are wrapped in plastic without any cardboard box.

I totally agree the way things are over packaged is insane. Still I am glad you will try to only buy food, that isn’t over packaged in the future. Voting with our feet is the only way things will ever change.

To be honest I don't really agree with all this recycling, we have to remember
there's a whole industry involved with the production of packaging materials
and stifling this industry will result in mass unemployment for these people

Lots of jobs will be created in the recycling industries. Don’t worry Johnny it won’t cost us the earth.

Recycling Johnny is important because the earth cannot sustain, the rate at which we are consuming its resources. No one wants to see jobs lost, but take the oil that is used to produce plastics for example, it cannot be replaced at the rate we are consuming it. Then there’s the issue of what to do with the rubbish, once we have disposed of it. Sooner or later we will have to change our ways.
